Do not be afraid of the C-word. It is unfortunately here to stay and we should all unite to understand it.
By uniting in our efforts - by attempting to understand it, I am optimistic we will find a way to eradicate cancers sooner than if we just left it up to a select few!
Afterall - according to a wise US President,
"We have nothing to fear, but fear itself"!

Dr. Hodson, my Radiation Oncologist and once a memeber of the Beatles! Just kidding, however he is British - went to Oxford. Have I mentioned I really lucked out with doctors. I had one of the top head/neck and thorasic surgeons in the world, one of the top radiation oncologists in the world, one of the top medical oncologists in the world treating me! Dr Hodson and RPN Martha really were there for my 4 months of daily treatments every single day, to answer questions and to just be supportive friends.... Posted by Picasa

A TRIBUTE....

To those who have made my life past 21 years old possible....

If it were not for this man, I would not be alive. I miss him. Dr David Swann passed suddenly in December of 2004, just 1 week after I visited him in Charleston. His suspicions about what I went to him for proved to be well founded when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer (that means end or last stage). Having a daughter my age, he was very easy to talk to about anything and was there as a comfort while I went through the preliminary biopsies and tests for cancer (my parents were somewhere in the panama canal during this time and unavailable). Dr Swann orchestrated every aspect of my care - it even turned out his wife was my operating room nurse! It is so sad we had to lose somebody so special so young.
